I totally agree – I love the way the composition is divided into three blocks with separate but complimentary tones. I’m going to have to go check out the rest of his work :)
the light! the light! is that why? that’s my reason.
That and the simplicity. a fan? really? in the age of 0 degree ACs this is so refreshing.
i’m always attracted to images that utilize space in an interesting manner. the tonality of this image and it’s intentional sparseness imbue it with presence. maybe it’s the fact that such a familiar, unassuming image is presented in such a monumental fashion that draws us in. it reminds me of an image of jonathan viner’s that i recently wrote about, ( http://welovescotch.blogspot.com/2008/12/jonathan-viner.html ) in which a really ethereal, haunting painting includes the curios detail of a lamp cord complete with what seem to be price tag stickers. i’ve always found something attractive about images that elevate life’s less noticed details to the plane of artistic relevance.
good eye, love this work. thanks.
so interesting to hear from you guys about how this photo makes you feel!
keep these sort of comments coming– i love them! :)

no clutter, nice calm color palette, and of course good design. (;
