OK so yesterday I sent out a call for fun theater seating ideas in the basement, and boy, did you guys deliver! This is going to be FUN.
You’re a pretty creative bunch, aren’t you? I see that. So… here’s what I’m thinking, based partly on your suggestions, and party on my own hair-brained ideas. We’ll see if Husband can get behind the below ideas, but hey — a gal can dream on her own blog, right?
So. Here’s what I’m thinking:
HOW COOL would it be to have an entire room of floor cushions? Like these, these or these? To watch movies in? I mean, I’m young. I don’t have a bad back. And I have dogs, who would pretty much love to romp around in a bunch of fluff (and I’d pretty much love to join them).
So. What IF we build modular theatre seating around the three walls adjacent to the movie screen (yes, there will be a movie screen in the basement — wasn’t kidding when I said he’s a film buff) with an open, recessed area in the middle for dozens of floor cushions? I mean, TONS. As in, we could host the next NYC Pillow Fight in our basement.
Thoughts? Am I nuts? Am I forgetting something totally logical here (I do that often) as to why this wouldn’t work? Eeek! I’m excited. Giving you the weekend to talk me out of it… ;)

i love those pillows and the way they zip together! what about tables, where will people put their popcorn and drinks? and, will your guests take off their shoes and be given some slippers or socks? what if you could store the pillows in a trunk or something, so they’re not out all the time? i’m worried about breaking a hip by stepping into the recess or george & bernie getting lost in the pillow abyss. questions, questions – such a party pooper ;).
actually, i was thinking those big black leather sofas with the reclining seats and the built in tables would be so awesome. just kidding!

Super idea Erin!! I LOVE it! I have often found myself day-dreaming about a room full of cushions – sometimes in the way that you get those pools full of balls… – sometimes I imagine beanbags, pillows and duvets… Ooooo so snug… You HAVE to do it!! xx
just tell us when to come over with the popcorn! i think whatever you come up with will be innovative and comfy.
