In ‘The Story of Things’, various homeowners’ items are re-produced in red plastic and printed with stories about how they were acquired. This napkin holder, for instance?:

“I first saw it this summer and I was totally determined to buy it, ’cause it was something that I really wanted. I thought it was nice because it is napkins. But I never bought it then. I think it’s adorable, and then I often have a bit of a cold. I’ve also been rather sad during this past year. So then it’s nice to do something nice out of crying. So that crying becomes something positive.”

This is pure genius, guys. I’m going to go around my house with a Sharpie and write stories about each piece I own. Love.
