I didn’t love this outfit today, mostly because it didn’t come together like I wanted it to and there was simply no time to accessorize (I’m late to a meeting as I type this, but I suppose that’s how things go…).
I also found a pretty gigantic run in these tights, which is always a bit of a downer. It’s beyond the clear nail polish fix, so perhaps I’ll make a fun little bow out of them. Who knows.
Anyway, the hard thing about 30/30/30 is that I had to choose items that somehow coordinate with other items, which meant a lot of black/gray for me. And lately, I’ve been just… not feeling black and gray. I want color! Pattern! Crazy!
We’ll just chalk this up to an off day and move on, yes? I promise a kickin’ outfit tomorrow. Promise.
Above is an outfit for the30/30/30 challenge, which you can read about right here. You’ll find my outfit photos in this space, along with my experiences in living with less over at ReadyMade Magazine every Thursday. Enjoy!
Wow; I’d never heard of the 30/30/30 challenge but, bizarrely, I’ve embarked on something very similar myself, starting today! I will be following you to see if I can be inspired!! All the best. BTW – I think today’s outfit looks warm & cozy, and not at all ‘eh’.
Erin your “eh” days are exponentially better than the vast majority of the American public. Nice matching tones in different patterns with the pop of color on the dress. Accessories would definitely make it more awesome, but still… you have good off days!
oh thank you — such a sweet thing to say!
your ‘eh’ day looks pretty good to me!
awww you are sweet. thank you. :)
agreed! you’re smashing.
as far as tights go—
1 run: worn beneath other pairs of non-run tights. it gets cold in minnesota and boston, yo.
2 runs: same
3 runs, especially with a toe: done and done! I salvage the bits that are completely circular without runs and then turn them into headbands. remember those looms from when we were kids? you can’t make them into potholders (um, nylon melts) – but you can braid them to make rad headbands. or hairbands. or whatever.
oooh brilliant idea, bridget! yes!
Don’t be so hard on yourself. Here in NYC you seldom see stockings without runs and I mean major RUNS!!! RE: the look as a whole, the patterns and colors totally work! Thumbs UP!
Awww, you are sweet! Thank you, Susan!
