They are abandoned monuments commemorating people killed during WWII and are located near cemeteries where war dead were buried and near the sites of former concentration camps.
The Belgian photographer, Jan Kempenaers, has traveled the many countries of the Balkans during the past decade and has recorded these monoliths with his camera.
