today’s outfit.

One of my April goals is to get dressed more. You know, in real clothes. And whoa, I picked the wrong month to do this b/c it’s quite hard to move boxes in heels. But you know what? I don’t care. Because it’s also mighty fun, and I can take more breaks to rest my feet this way. Bonus!

Here’s what I wore today:

Can we talk about this skirt? Lulu’s* sent me this skirt and I think I’m going to wear it every day for the rest of my life. It’s the perfect flouncy weight, but still substantial enough to wear in the winter, which is really hard to pull off. Plus, that pattern? You know I love that pattern.

Also of note is my Uniform Natural scarf that often plays a starring role in my outfits. Perfection, I tell you.

What are you wearing today?

FULL DISCLOSURE*

  • Love the outfit! I need to “dress” more, too.
In a psych class I read about a study that proved that students who “dressed” for class, rather than just throwing on sweats, got better grades. They felt better about themselves and were more focused and efficient. Interesting, isn’t it?

  • you look so cute! i should dress up a bit more too. i always seem to default to jeans, especially since i can get away with it at work. plus i hate stuff i have to dry clean because i rarely get to the dry cleaners. and i’m afraid they will ruin it (bad past experiences).

  • I made the same vow at NYE’s!! I have found that since moving to Ireland where I don’t know many people and since I began ‘working’ from home, I haven’t been putting as much thought or time into dressing – as I sometimes think “whats the point?” – it was really beginning to have an affect on me – thus my resolution! So hats off to you, keep it up!!!

  • i’m totally on bored w/ that thought. i always seem to work better when i’m wearing something professional… ish. ;)

  • I think your little white buddy rounds out the outfit – so well behaved! Living in Maine where winter = hibernation, I have gotten totally out of touch with anything fashionable (you mean bed head isn’t the rage anymore?). There’s definitely a connection b/w dressing up and feeling good – so I’m totally inspired by your April goal! And talk about an adorable outfit – love the different patterns and the textures you’ve layered up – c*u*t*e!

  • I am wearing my “uniform.” Black leggings, black tank dress, black oversized cardigan, black ass-kickin’ hiking boots, and my long silver chain with a pewter polar bear pendant. The description of this outfit makes me sound like the Ghost of Christmas Future, but I promise the overall effect isn’t so threatening.

However, Erin, you are inspiring me to add some color to my wardrobe. I’m already lusting after that skirt..

  • First visit to your blog and browsing around. You’re kind of adorable. I’ll enjoy hanging out here more often. PS: That yellow door? Yes.

  • oh you ladies are so sweet to me. (welcome, amy!)

and omg kelsey — i am in LOVE w/ your uniform! a pewter polar bear pendant? yes!

  • ack! cutest skirt ever! and a uniform natural scarf – lovely as always!

am wearing a typical outfit for my workweek – black skirt, lavender/orchid floral print blouse and a black cardigan + black mules for the springy weather that’s outside.

I must get a skirt like yours. I must! :)

  • thanks friends! and seriously, i wish i could dance party in this skirt so i could show off the flounce. its amazing!
