MAKEKIND 20.

For this week’s MakeKind post, I’ve been inspired by Erin’s new bundle of joy! I’ve made some pint sized coloring blocks to be used once the baby gets older to learn how to match colors. (Please note, I used craft paint in this project, so these blocks will be best suited for children who don’t have the habit of sticking everything in their mouths.) If you don’t have a child to play a matching game with, these blocks can also add interest to a shelf or open space on a desk. Here’s how to get the look!:

MATERIALS // craft paint (5), painters tape, paint brush, 1″ wood blocks

STEPS // 01 TAPE THE BLOCKS Using the painters tape, mark off half of the block, by taping it securely around the block. Press down on the tape to ensure adherence.

02 // PAINT THE BLOCKS Paint two blocks identically, making a total of 10 blocks, using 5 different colors. Because of the painters tape, you can paint right over the tape, as it blocks the color from areas you don’t want it.

03 // PEEL THE TAPE Once the paint dries, peel off the tape to reveal a perfectly straight line around the block.
