My grandmother stocked her bathroom vanity with one soap and one soap only: Dove. When asked why, she’d respond: It doesn’t smell frou-frou. I’m already frou-frou enough, amIright?!
Naturally, I’m bent toward the stuff, if only for nostalgia sake. Recently, I opened a bar to rub alongside my dresser glides (an age-old hack to quiet those creaky, oft-stuck drawers!) and was hit with the sweet scent of history and home, of fate and family.
