I don’t know; it’s just that I should probably tape it all to my fridge:
- When you feel hungry, but nothing sounds good, you’re actually just thirsty. Drink some water, lady. Good gracious.
- Everyone yells. There is grace for today.
- Do not order the jeans online. They will not fit, and jeans are not on your list of Things You Actually Need. Stop it.
- A quick listen of Don’t Let The Sun Go Down (George Michael and Elton John only, no other version will do) can cure your momentary woes. Rinse and repeat, if necessary. Pairs best with kitchen spatula as microphone.
- Raw, vegan five minute blondies are always a good decision.
- Ask for help. Ask for help. Ask for help!
- A spritz of lavender and a tall drink of water on the frenziest of days. Also, incense. Also, fresh air. Also, a hot shower. Just put on any air mask you’ve got and breathe it all in.
- Replace What do you do for a living? with What did you do today? It produces far greater results, and really, nobody wants to talk about work over red pepper bisque.
- Don’t be afraid to cook for others. It will wreak havoc on the dish pile, but it’s far more nourishing than ordering take-out pizza. For your guests and for you. (Keep a box of mac and cheese in the pantry if the kids don’t like your vegan tacos, but whatever, they will love your vegan tacos.)
- Be kind to your mother.
- Loving with expectation is – surprise! -not loving.
- You don’t need the linen tee.
- You don’t need the backpack.
- You don’t need the dress.
- You don’t need the face mask.
- You don’t need the lipstick.
- You don’t need the book.
- (You might need the book.)
- Dance with the toddler. Take her to the park. Let her be silly. Let you be silly.
- Grace.
This is my absolute favorite. Definitely things I need to post on my fridge as well!
What would do without fridge reminders? :)
oh lordy.
#1, 5, 6, 17 & 18 – YES
And especially #8 {the what-do-you-do-for-a-living question makes my skin itch}
And always, always, #20
what a fabulous list and a timely reminder of these things for me.
thank-you for writing exactly what i needed to read today
ahhhh thank you sweet leonie!!!!!!
Wonderful reminders. They brought a smile to my face. Isn’t that one of the things reminders are supposed to do? ::grin::
Thank you, Kariane!!!!
Fabulous list. Just fabulous. (You might need the book. Maybe one for Bee too). = )
Haaaaa, books always, yes. Thank you!
I’m Yelling (2) to myself how bad I want a raw, vegan, 5-min Blondie (5). I know that :)
(Oops! I’m not anonymous! Lol)
Ha! You’re the best!
This. Perfection in a list.
Thank you, Marcia!
Ha! Funny and sadly true :)
Always!
Oh! This is so perfect. I AM going to print this out and put it in my wardrobe door next to the mirror.
Thank you, thank you, Erin.

You’re so welcome, sweet Dora. :)
This is so wonderful! Especially # 8 and 9! Love love love it!
Thank you Victoria! :)
miss erin, your writing always brings a smile to my face … lovely reminders … seems we have such short memories (well at least i do) … definately keep #19 uppermost … they grow up far too fast x
ahhhh thank you sweet dawn!!!!
This is everything.
you are my love. :)
thank you, it’s good to remember
amen! :)
love this!
thank you!
I’m so glad you included #10. As a new mother, this one has new meaning and importance for me but, even then, I make the awful mistake of being less than loving and generous and empathetic to the one that gave me life. I REALLY do need to tape that one to my fridge.
Beautiful, poignant, honest thoughts as always. Thank you, Erin.
Ah, thank you sweet Hilary. Congrats on the new babe – I can’t wait to see how you two transform each other. :)
Erin, I love this. I need a similar list because I too, do not need that lipstick.
How do you take such beautiful photos? Do you set it up and focus and then auto-timer so you can jump into the frame? I’m trying my hand a blogging and figuring out how to shoot myself while the baby naps it is sort of a disaster.. Any tips?
Hi Laura!
Thanks for your question! I unfortunately don’t have any tips on this one; my husband snapped it! He’s a far better photographer than I’ll ever be. :) But, have you tried this app for self timer photos? It’s not perfect (a bit grainy), but it’ll get the job done with good lighting and some post work!:

Love this. Love
Thank you sweet Mia!
