Things I Keep Forgetting

I don’t know; it’s just that I should probably tape it all to my fridge:

  1. When you feel hungry, but nothing sounds good, you’re actually just thirsty. Drink some water, lady. Good gracious.
  2. Everyone yells. There is grace for today.
  3. Do not order the jeans online. They will not fit, and jeans are not on your list of Things You Actually Need. Stop it.
  4. A quick listen of Don’t Let The Sun Go Down (George Michael and Elton John only, no other version will do) can cure your momentary woes. Rinse and repeat, if necessary. Pairs best with kitchen spatula as microphone.
  5. Raw, vegan five minute blondies are always a good decision.
  6. Ask for help. Ask for help. Ask for help!
  7. A spritz of lavender and a tall drink of water on the frenziest of days. Also, incense. Also, fresh air. Also, a hot shower. Just put on any air mask you’ve got and breathe it all in.
  8. Replace What do you do for a living? with What did you do today? It produces far greater results, and really, nobody wants to talk about work over red pepper bisque.
  9. Don’t be afraid to cook for others. It will wreak havoc on the dish pile, but it’s far more nourishing than ordering take-out pizza. For your guests and for you. (Keep a box of mac and cheese in the pantry if the kids don’t like your vegan tacos, but whatever, they will love your vegan tacos.)
  10. Be kind to your mother.
  11. Loving with expectation is – surprise! -not loving.
  12. You don’t need the linen tee.
  13. You don’t need the backpack.
  14. You don’t need the dress.
  15. You don’t need the face mask.
  16. You don’t need the lipstick.
  17. You don’t need the book.
  18. (You might need the book.)
  19. Dance with the toddler. Take her to the park. Let her be silly. Let you be silly.
  20. Grace.
