day 7: militant glamour.

Just kidding. I’m all for world peace.

I loved everything about this outfit, with the exception of a super important detail I failed to realize when getting dressed: rompers aren’t fantastic layering pieces. Sure, it looks cute, but the function factor is pretty much out the window when you down three orange blossom teas and find yourself peeling off three layers in a tiny diner bathroom stall just to relieve yourself.

Hypothetically.

Above is an outfit for the 30/30/30 challenge, which you can read about right here. You’ll find my outfit photos in this space, along with my experiences in living with less over at ReadyMade Magazine every Thursday. Enjoy!

  • LOVE!!! :) your poses are getting better, funnier and others so girly! :) i love your coat and the layers! your smile is so beautiful… and what is with the weather there? always sunny? :) have a great day!!!! twiggs

  • Adorable! And I am SO glad to see that like me – you still have a touch of L.A. in you with your GIANT sunglasses. xo!

  • oh yay — thanks, twiggs! i’m getting used to this posing thing, although its VERY hard! :)

and ha — gotta bring that l.a. sunshine wherever i go, jenn! :)

  • Dang it, Erin, you almost have me convinced to go pixie. My hair’s been long long long for ages, but… man. It could happen!

  • You know how some outfits really go with your hair? I feel like your hair is the star here and the outfit is an accessory for it. You look very equestrian-chic. So cute!

  • oh gosh, you girls are so sweet to me.

and natalie — you are SO RIGHT! i re-invented my entire style for this hair and haven’t looked back yet. just love the pixie. :)

  • I felt the same way yesterday when I tried the lace tights over colored tights thing — cute, but just not practical. I bet my coworkers kept wondering why I was taking so long in the bathroom!

    Cute outfit! Love the jacket.

  • I love the outfit, and the text is hilarious. Oh, and your haircut is adorable. Hope the romper didn’t cause an accident. ;)

  • HAHAHAHA. you mention the wardrobe challenge in the diner’s stall…then I see the photo of you crouching down and I put the two together in my mind.

LOVE the jacket! the whole outfit is cute and I’m still in love with that haircut!! adorable on you.

  • Oh gosh; I didn’t even think about the juxtaposition of the reference and that photo. Eh. :)

    Thanks, Sunny!

  • What a great jacket! and what fun tights! they totally make an outfit that would be very prim a lot more fun! (for the record prim can be a good thing, I like it) and I second/third the fact that you are going to convince so many of us to go pixie. I’m almost back to the length my hair was when I cropped it all off for a pixie 5 years ago.

  • layer it up, girl! You look fab-o, in all of these adorable outfits so far! And blue sky- woah! Skies are blue somewhere in the world out there? Whod’a known.

  • Cute outfit! I need to know though: the bag, where did you get it? It is to die gorgeous and I want one, haha.

  • thanks, girls!

believe it or not, the bag is a forever21 find from earlier this year! i have a vintage one almost IDENTICAL, but that doesn’t hold my laptop quite as well. its soooo versatile!

  • You look completely fetching! Have you gotten the Carey Mulligan look-alike comments yet?

  • as my irish aunt would say, ‘you’re only gorgeous!’ i especially love the blue shoes and tights and tights

  • Fabulous! And my fave part — the wardrobe malfunction aspect. Like any true fashionista, you are *all* about sacrificing function for form.

  • ha —- i wouldnt call myself a true fashionista as much as i’d call myself braindead. :) but you’re sweet to give a compliment! :)

  • Another winner! I adore dogwood. If this is your backyard, I am even more jealous.
