A former seamstress for Alexander McQueen, Tina Kalivas launched her own label of ultra-modern fashion over 10 years ago. The collections on her site are each juxtaposed with the inspiration behind the series, which is oddly fascinating to see (think: Rubik’s cubes, children’s books and video games!). But here’s why I love Tina Kalivas: in a fashion show with Mark Vassallo, a model had burned her face with acne cream, so the pair wrapped her face entirely with tape and sent her down the runway anyway! Three cheers for ingenuity.
